The Day a Beast Came to School

Room 2 have been learning about the Beast.  He/she comes out in certain situations and we are learning to identify when this happens and what we can do to control the beast.

Room 2 looked at this story before deciding that we could help the monster by sharing the expected behaviours for any beasts that just so happen to visit Room 2.

After this we had to decide which behaviours are above the line (these behaviours are always welcome), below the line (uh oh you need a reminder) and bottom line (non-negotiables, these behaviours are never welcome in our class).

These are the behaviours we supported the monster in the story to classify so he was clear on how to behave at school.  Pop into our class to see what we came up with.

The Chunky Monkey Reading Strategy

Room 2 are learning how to use the Chunky Monkey reading strategy during reading and writing time.  Here is a little video that helps us to remember how to use the Chunky Monkey strategy to help us with those tricky words.

GoNoodle Fitness

Our school has committed to increasing the fitness of our beautiful Tamariki!  This means that most days we have 20 minutes of fitness and our class just love GoNoodle fitness Zumba and Dance clips.  Check out these videos of our awesome groovers doing what they love most:

We Love Chromebooks!

We are so lucky at Rangikura School because our Board Of Trustees approved for the purchase of more Chromebooks and we got an extra special delivery!  Mrs C didn't tell us that our Chromebooks were magic until someone worked out by accident that our new chromebooks can be a chromebook and a tablet at the same time...better yet, they have interactive touch screens!

Grooving with QR Codes

Mrs C has been having fun creating QR codes as part of our maths programme.  She takes the URL of an activity to support our learning, posts it into a QR code creator and then we scan these using the iPads.  The awesome thing about this is that it saves us heaps of time and we can go straight to our learning tasks.  Here is an example of what a QR code looks like:
